Al is in his tenth year with the Rush program and is a certified Hockey Canada High Performance Coach. Al was the head coach or co-head coach in each of his first 6 seasons and has been the general manager for the last 9 seasons. Al has led the Rush to appearances in 4 provincial championship finals.  In 2019 Al was an assistant coach with Team BC and won a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games. Al has a passion for creating best in class hockey programs that develop the complete player - from skill development to psychological, educational and personal growth, to ensure our athletes reach their full potential.

Marilyne Cloutier

​

Marilyne is in her fourth year as an assistant coach with the Rush.  She grew up near Montreal and is an avid Canadiens fan. While growing up, Marilyne played both male and female hockey until U18, when she played in the Quebec female U18AA league, the highest level for female hockey at the time. From there, Marilyne moved on to John Abbot College to play four years of University hockey. Since moving to BC, Marilyne has continued her playing career in the South Coast Senior Female AA league. Marilyne has a passion for player development, both on and off the ice, and has a focus of working with our defence group.

Goaltender Instructor

Joey Ali

​

Joey is in his seventh year as the Rush's goaltending instructor. He is the founder of Proali Goalie Training and co-owner of Pro-Formance Goalie schools. Joey has been instrumental in helping the majority of our goalies progress on to college and University hockey, as well as for some of them to Team BC and Hockey Canada's National Female Program. He has worked alongside NHL goalie coaches and worked with NHL and AHL goaltenders. Joey is also a goalie consultant for the Langley Rivermen, NCAA schools, Team Canada (Blind Hockey) and Lakeland Super Camps.

Tony is in his fourth year as the Rush head coach. He is a certified Hockey Canada High Performance Coach and has over 35 years of coaching experience. Tony has a passion for player development, both on and off the ice, and has coached at every level of minor hockey and his experience includes 6 years as the Richmond Ravens Director of Hockey Development. He has also been involved as a coach and mentor for many years in both the male and female high performance provincial programs. Tony was the BC Hockey female U18 AAA coach of the year in 2019-20 and the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association coach of the year in 2013-2014.

Assistant Coach

Nicole Wong

​

Nicole is in her second year as a Rush assistant coach and has played for our Head Coach on numerous occasions including the Richmond-Delta Zone Team that won a Silver Medal at the BC Winter Games. After playing her minor hockey with the Seafair Islanders and the Richmond Ravens Nicole would graduate to the BC Hockey High Performance program and the BC Hockey FMAAA League capturing a Provincial Championship, along with a regional berth in the Esso Cup qualification round in 2017. Nicole would move on to play 4 seasons in the USports AUS Conference for the Mt. Allison University Mounties in Sackville NB. In her senior season she was named an Alternate Captain and would graduate in 2021 from Mt.A as a 2-time USports Academic All-Canadian with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

Assistant Coach

Tony Wong

Tony is in his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Rush and his 12th year coaching with our Head Coach. He is a certified Hockey Canada High Performance Coach. He brings a special expertise in game video and skill analysis. Tony primarily works with the defence and he leads our video coaching program. He has 15 years of head coaching experience at all levels of minor hockey and he was the Head Coach and coaching co-ordinator for 5 years with the RIchmond Ravens. He is a co-founder of the Pacific Stars Hockey Academy (PSHA) which operated a joint venture partnership headquartered in Beijing, China. The PSHA provided player, administrative and coaching development in China.

Assistant Coach

Kelly Leroux

​

Kelly is in his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Rush and his 6th year coaching with our Head Coach. He is a certified High Performance Coach and has over 25 years of coaching experience. Kelly has coached at all levels of minor hockey and has been awarded three coach of the year awards. He specializes in skill instruction to our defence group. Kelly grew up in Kenora, Ontario, where he played his minor hockey, and he played Junior A with the Richmond Sockeyes (BCJHL) and the Milton Merchants (OHL). Kelly earned a scholarship to Canisius College (NCAA Div 1) where he still holds multiple records for a defenceman. He played professionally for the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) and the Fort Worth Fire and Fayetville Force (CHL).

Assistant Manager

Shannon Butler

​

Shannon is in her fifth year as an assistant manager and trainer with the Rush. Shannon has over 10 years of coaching and managing experience. In 2014, Shannon coached with Head Coach Tony at the BC Winter games and won a sliver medal. Shannon played her college hockey with the Trinity Western Spartans and is currently playing in the South Coast Senior Female AA league.
